Mia Casa 2015 Gallery

Mia Casa 2 is a collection of gardens developed over several years with goal of livening up the grassy lawn.  As a teen my Mother tried to teach me about gardening, but I was not interested.  Years later, Eureka!  Now, time seems nonexistent when I am with the plants and Nature.  Mom is still laughing.  During summer and winter I am eager to tool around the garden.

During winter 2014 my first attempt at a Cold Frame yielded the pleasure of picking vegetables in the winter.  Also, hundreds of Pepper plants were started from seeds; as a result, I planted Peppers everywhere – in the ground and in flowering containers.  Needless to say, I lost track of the types, and next year I must ensure correct labeling.

My primary vegetable garden contains sections which include Caribbean type vegetables: Pumpkin, Okra, Bitter Melon, Asparagus Bean (Bodi), Black Eyed Peas, Pigeon Peas (August crop), and Habanero Peppers, along with a compost area.

For this summer the cold frame box is housing the large leaf Swiss Chard and Habanero plants.  In June I found a 16” square cedar box on clearance…so in it I planted Egyptian Walking Onion and Spanish Thyme.  I hope the photos will be enjoyed.
